QQuestions:
If a bank was required by a foreign law-enforcing agency to provide its customers' personal data, should it oblige?
AReply

Generally, if a foreign law-enforcing institution seeks personal data from a bank in Macao for crime investigation purposes, it would do so through its Macao counterpart. Banks may well provide such data by virtue of relevant laws. Nowadays cross-border crimes are pursued by the INTERPOL, or in accordance with international agreements. Foreign law-enforcing agencies may obtain the information they want through the INTERPOL's international bureaus.
