It is the mandate of this Bureau to oversee and coordinate affairs related to the enforcement and implementation of Law 8/2005 (Personal Data Protection Act). If a person's personal data is infringed on, he or she may lodge a complaint with this Bureau. If follow-up investigation reveals data breach as an administrative offence, the Bureau will impose the violated party an administrative fine; if the case involves crime, the suspect will be referred to the judiciary aurthorities for further legal actions.
