Not all CCTV systems are surveillance systems for staff monitoring. If a security system is used for taking video data of staff, then it becomes a monitoring system. For the public, there should be a notice at the entrance of the premise stating, “for security reasons, this premise is installed with security surveillance systems”. To the staff should be provided a personal data collection statement, indicating the purposes of data collection, where the CCTVs are installed, and who will be handling the data collected, except where public security, prevention of crime or surveillance of criminal cases are involved.
