QQuestions:
While employers should not monitor employees in non-office hours, CCTV systems usually run 24 hours/day. Is it legal?
AReply

The usual means of surveillance include CCTV, phone-call monitoring, email-and-internet-use monitoring, etc. Of which CCTVs are generally for security reasons, and tend to run on a 24-hour basis. Phone-call-and-internet-use monitoring, on the other hand, is mainly undertaken to ensure service quality. Therefore, the PDPB advises institutions to avoid monitoring in non-office hours.
