QQuestions:
Nowadays most facilities, such as hotels, banks and government agencies, have CCTV systems. Do such systems intrude on people’s privacy?
AReply

With social development comes a variety of problems. CCTV systems are generally installed to ensure the interests of institutions, staff and citizens. On the other hand, surveillance involves personal data processing, which makes people feel limited and bound. This Bureau has prepared the Principles concerning the protection of personal data in the workplaces: guidelines for employee monitoring with a view to seeking a balance between the interests of the parties. For that purpose, surveillance must be kept in compliance with the principles of legality, reasonability and ensuring the respect of the rights of the data subject.
