Processing personal data with automatic devices is regarded as automatic data processing; for example, by inputting codes, computers automatically compute salaries of staff. According to Article 21 of the Personal Data Protection Act, institutions processing personal data automatically must notify the PDPB. However, for reasons of economy and efficiency, this Bureau has issued a series of Exemption Authorizations. Personal data processing within the scope of the authorizations is exempted from the notification obligation.
